Update! 2022 Annual Hydrant Flushing

Unpublished

HWSA has completed our hydrant flushing for 2022!

Each year, HWSA performs annual hydrant flushing.  Hydrant flushing is essential to ensure our water system continues to operate at its best.  Flushing provides assurances for proper water flow throughout the system, adequate availability in the event of a fire, and reduces sediment build up.

HWSA will begin their annual system wide hydrant flushing starting on September 12th  between the hours of 7:30am – 4:00pm. Flushing will start in the eastern portion of the township (Blair Mill Rd.) and move in a westerly direction (Lower State Rd.). Location maps are available (below) and outline the general sequence followed for flushing. The system wide flushing is anticipated to take between 6-8 weeks to complete (ending in or around the week of 10/17).   Regrettably, HWSA is unable to provide the exact date and or time a specific hydrant will be flushed.

Please be advised that flushing may cause changes in water pressure and discoloration of water. Although discolored water is not aesthetically pleasing, the water is safe for use and does not represent a health hazard. HWSA encourages customers to look for changes in water variations prior to each use, and recommends temporarily refraining from use if you notice changes.  Residents should also refrain from doing laundry as staining may occur. If you experience discolored water run COLD water for several minutes from the lowest fixture.  If discolored water persists for an extended period of time please contact the Authority.  We apologize for any inconvenience, as we work to perform this essential program.
